What could be more romantic than a simple hand-in-hand walk along the beach at sunset?

Well, plenty as it turns out. We have lots of romantic and intriguing spots for lovers to visit within easy reach of our Sun Palace beach vacation spot.

Here are just a few:

Edison & Ford Estates: you may not readily associate Thomas Edison and Henry Ford with romance – well, maybe, a Ford sedan – but the grounds of the Edison and Ford Estates in Fort Myers are lovely and made for romantic afternoon and evening strolls.

Cayo Costa State Park

Cayo Costa State Park: accessible only by private boat or ferry, Cayo Costa is legendary for quite a few romantic reasons, not the least of which are the ghosts of pirates past said to lurk the nine miles of unspoiled barrier island paradise.

Cabbage Key: just south of Cayo Costa on the Intercoastal Waterway is a slice of paradise and Old Florida (as well as the nearby private island, Useppa). Just over 100 acres of lush sub-tropical terrain surrounding a fabled restaurant and inn. Local legend has long held Florida’s favorite troubadour, Jimmy Buffett, wrote his classic, “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” at the inn on Cabbage Key. Jimmy has neither confirmed nor denied this.

Murder Mystery Dinner Train: How about a five-course meal enjoyed in the middle of an unfolding murder mystery aboard a classic diesel-driven passenger train? Um, yea, romance! The Seminole-Gulf Railway departs almost every night from downtown Fort Myers and takes passengers on a spell-binding journey of mystery and exquisite culinary celebration.

Take a boat cruise: Seriously, not much more romantic than simply being on a boat, on the water. We’re surrounded by some of the finest coastal waters found anywhere on earth. The Gulf of Mexico and Estero Bay are boating playgrounds unparalleled anywhere!

And, of course, sunsets! They are incomparable here on our beach island. Our sunsets are among what we do best!
