If you’re spending Christmas and New Year’s in Fort Myers Beach, you have chosen a fun place to enjoy the holidays. Many restaurants are open for these celebrations and host special menus for your dining pleasure.
Christmas and New Year’s Dining
The Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce is maintaining a list of about two dozen restaurants, noting if they are open for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
One great option is Christmas at Chloes, which is serving a Holiday Buffet from 12:30 to 5:30 pm. Selections include seafood chowder, peel and eat shrimp, a carving station with prime rib and roast turkey, seared grouper, chicken breast, vegetables, and an assortment of desserts. The price is $36.95 for adults, $12.95 for children age 4-10.
For New Year’s Eve, check out the four-course dinner at IslandView. The $50 price includes an appetizer, homemade lobster bisque or salad, entrée (choice of lobster tail, stuffed shrimp scampi, lobster ravioli or filet mignon), and dessert. Enjoy live music by Chuck Courtenay Jr., a champagne toast and party favors at midnight.
New Year’s Eve
New Year’s is also the town’s birthday, so this is a day-long event!
Activities start at noon in Times Square (6550 Estero Blvd.) with free cupcakes until 1 pm, while supplies last. Live music plays all day, with the ball drop at midnight.
Typically, the evening includes fireworks near the pier, but organizers are still awaiting permits. If the fireworks happen, the bridge will be closed to oncoming traffic from 12:15 am to 1:15 am during the show. There will be extended trolley service until 2 am.
Monitor the chamber’s website and the Times Square Merchant & Event Association’s Facebook page for updates.
